Hawthorne, which operates fixed base operations at regional airports in six states, now occupies more than 100,000 square feet at MacArthur, according to a statement from the Town of Islip, which owns and operates the airport. The company also serves as a FAA Part 145 Repair Station and provides aircraft charter and management through its sister company, ExcelAire.

Hawthorne, which has operated at MacArthur for more than eight years, began work on the new facility in spring 2019 and the hangar was completed last month.

“Along with our commitment to developing commercial aviation service and our passenger terminal, we also understand and appreciate the importance of our general aviation community,” Airport Commissioner Shelley LaRose-Arken said in the statement.
