Press release from the Town of Islip: Jan. 10, 2021

Long Island MacArthur Airport is once again, a nominee for the USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards for Best Small Airport. The nominees were released today and voting is underway through 12 Noon on Monday, February 1. All voting is digital via the 10Best website, and members of the public may cast one vote per device each day. Winners will be announced February 12, 2021.

“We are honored to be one of the 15 airports selected by a panel of experts. We are hoping our loyal base of travelers and the Long Island community will vote each day,” said Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter.

The site describes these top facilities as being “smaller, friendlier airports” that “excel with their commercial flight offerings, easy access and amenities.” The small airport category includes airports with fewer than 10 million passengers each year.

“MacArthur Airport is working hard to provide an excellent customer experience,” said Aviation Commissioner Shelley LaRose-Arken. “It’s gratifying that the experts participating in the USA Today 10Best Awards recognize MacArthur’s ability to conveniently serve New York travelers,” she added.

The voting page describes MacArthur Airport as an alternative for airline passengers “wishing to avoid the big, crowded New York area airports (JFK and LaGuardia) will find a peaceful alternative in the town of Islip.”
