Clay Lacy Aviation is making a $40 million investment to develop a state-of-the-art, full-service FBO and expand it’s current FAA and Transport Canada authorized Repair Station at the Waterbury-Oxford Airport (KOXC). The development will add over 600 jobs, add 120,000 square feet of hangar capacity, and bring additional maintenance, avionics, and interior services to the region. Corporate flight departments and private owners throughout the northeast will benefit with more convenient and immediate access to the company’s aircraft maintenance, charter, FBO, and management services.
Accommodating Ultra-Long Range Business Jets, Global 7500, Falcon 10X and G700
Preliminary site work on the expanded hangar and other facilities has already begun, with foundation work scheduled for this summer and a scheduled completion of the first phase in Winter 2023/Spring 2024. With the larger space, Clay Lacy is upgrading the region’s aviation infrastructure, expecting to be one of the only facilities in the northeast built specifically to accommodate the taller and wider aircraft entering the market like Global 7500, Gulfstream G700, and Falcon 10X.
“We’re addressing both the current and future needs of clients with this expansion,” said Buddy Blackburn, Clay Lacy’s Senior Vice President of FBO Operations at Oxford. “The Facilities will fill current demand for hangar space at Waterbury Oxford Airport as well as the greater northeast region.”
Comprehensive Maintenance Support for Dassault, Embraer, Gulfstream and Bombardier Aircraft
Clay Lacy’s Oxford maintenance team has grown from three to 39 in the past five years, as operational capabilities and demand for maintenance services continue to increase. Already a FAA-certified repair station and certified by Transport Canada, Clay Lacy offers maintenance and repair services, without the congestion and higher prices of other New York-adjacent facilities.
The site performs a wealth of services including scheduled inspections, onsite aircraft operation tests and day-to-day line maintenance, as well as AOG support to other airports in the region.
Building a Sustainable Future
Maintaining a focus on sustainability and efficient operations is a top priority. Clay Lacy facilities have been certified carbon-neutral since 2019 by 4Air. Additional capabilities for electric aircraft charging and onsite power generation are also being incorporated into the development.
Clay Lacy is also helping attract next generation of aviation professionals by working directly with the Connecticut Aero Tech school providing scholarships to students pursuing their airframe and powerplant certificate, and exposing students to aviation careers through job shadow days and internships.
